At the time of writing Michael Hall was a Professor in the Department of Management, Marketing, and Tourism at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand; Docent and Visiting Professor, Geography Research Unit, University of Oulu, Finland; Adjunct Professor, Taylor's University, Malaysia; and Research Fellow, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He has published widely on tourism, regional development, global environmental change, heritage, food, and sustainable consumption.
