Dr. Betül Açıkgöz is an Assistant Professor at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Türkiye. She teaches financial accounting, IFRS, accounting theory, and auditing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Gazi University, an M.S. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Ph.D. in Accounting from Rutgers University. Her research focuses on auditing practices, international accounting and financial reporting standards, corporate governance, and sustainability reporting. She is particularly interested in how these areas shape professional identity, transparency, and compliance. She is currently working on projects related to the changing role of external auditors, IFRS adoption in emerging markets, and the growing integration of sustainability into corporate reporting.
